The Story behind the Star |

When entering a Pret A Manger shop you can find stars everywhere, on the
packaging, the team's uniform and on walls and windows. The star has become our
trademark ever since we were awarded one by a famous British food taster in
recognition of the excellent quality of our food. In fact, we were the first ”„fast food”¦
restaurant to ever be awarded a star by him. |

Many people struggle to pronounce our name. Pret a Manger is French and means "ready to eat". The company founders Sinclair Beecham and Julian Metcalfe came across a small shop with this name. They liked it so much that they bought it of the owner and used it to begin their sandwich business. |

Honesty is crucial. If a product or ingredient doesn't reach Pret's high standards, it is important that there is a good reason and that we can articulate it to customers clearly and convincingly. |
