Working in Support Centre

The people based at our support centre are there to support the good work that the shop teams do each and every day. In order for our shops to run smoothly ˇV so Pret can remain profitable but still be a fun place to work ˇV lots has to go on behind-the-scenes. We have to find great sites for shops, then build them up, create winning food ideas, source ingredients that can be delivered daily, communicate to our customers about what we do and why, ensure our computer systems function correctly, make sure everyone gets paid on timeˇKthe lists goes on and on.

Buddies

In many companies, the support centre seems to be there to interfere and generally make life more complicated for the rest of the business. This mustnˇ¦t ever be the case at Pret. The people at support centre are willing to know what theyˇ¦re getting right ˇV and what they could be doing better. To facilitate close relationship between people working at shops and those working in support centre, and to ensure understanding and effective communication, we have the Buddy Scheme. Each person at the support centre is linked to one shop whom they will get to know through several visits per year. They are known as the shopˇ¦s Buddy and the visits are known as Buddy Days. During Buddy Days the Buddy will attend Team Brief and spend time working alongside the team. The Buddy is the shopˇ¦s link to the support centre and it is the Buddyˇ¦s opportunity to learn more about life in our shops.
